1. It’s time to remove your winter tires (or rotate your all-season radials). When you’re doing this, you’ll want to make sure your tires are in good shape. Check the tire tread depth and also make sure your tires are wearing evenly. If you’ve stored tires over the winter, check to make sure they haven’t started to dry rot or crack. Need new tires?
2. Replace wiper blades. Snow and ice can be quite harsh on wiper blades. Make sure your driving visibility isn’t hampered in inclement weather by changing the wiper blades in the Fall and Spring.
3. Inspect your brakes. With many vehicles, it’s somewhat easy to check the thickness of the brake pads and inspect the condition of the brake discs. 4. Wash and wax your vehicle. After a snowy winter, it’s important to make sure you get all the road salt off your vehicle. By giving it a good wash and wax, you’ll protect the exterior finish.
5. Wash the underbody. Road salt can lead to corrosion and rusting of the parts located under your vehicle, like your exhaust system. When you’re washing your vehicle, be sure to rinse the underbody, including the wheel wells.
6. Apply a protectant to vinyl and leather surfaces.
7. Have the oil changed. The engine oil is designed to lubricate and protect your engine. You can extend engine life with regular oil and filter changes.
8. Check the level and condition of all other fluids. It’s good to get in the habit of regularly checking the level and condition of all the fluids in your vehicle.
